ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine and is used to balance energy known as Chi or Qi. Each fine acupuncture needle is inserted with a corresponding organ or related point to help boost immunity, energy, and balance deficiency in certain areas of the body. Cupping is a form of alternative natural healing treatment that has been around for many centuries and has resurfaced within the past few years and gained a lot of popularity. As massage therapists, within our scope of practice, we use plastic suction cups directly on the skin. This can be done in a stationary location or with lotion or oil to provide a gliding motion. Cupping promotes circulation and increases the range of motion as it aids to decrease adhesions and scar tissue. It increases the flow of lymphatics and helps move the toxins. Cupping can help with the breakdown of cellulite and the increased fascia restrictions. With cupping, there are side effects of red spots from the suction cups. This may look like bruising, but it is just increased blood flow to the area. During treatment, it is releasing fascia restrictions that may cause pain and tenderness. $10 charge (added to the massage) *CI for cupping: Pregnancy, blood, or heart problems are just a few cases where cupping should be avoided. |
