Why Haven't I heard of this?
Candace is trained in the Egoscue Method and PTX Postural Therapy, a therapeutic approach to exercise based on fundamental anatomical, physiological, and biomechanical principles. The goal is to create a state of muscular balance and alignment of the body mechanics. A patient's "symptoms" do not dictate a formula for treatment but provide insight into their limitations. Our primary objective is to remove the person's structural dysfunction, treat the cause, and correct the posture.
When your posture gets crooked, the joints start to wear unevenly causing degeneration, pinched nerves, inflammation, and pain. Just like the uneven wear and damage caused by poor tire alignment, likewise, crooked posture causes wear and degeneration of the joints. Unless you get your joints level and squared up to one another from head to toe, you’ll remain in pain. Posture Therapy can solve pain when other modalities have failed because your corrective exercise routines will address your unique postural and functional issues. This positive stimulus will bring your body back into a position of balance where it can then heal itself. Your full-body posture is assessed, from the direction your feet and knees point to the tilt of your head, to find out exactly where the joints have gotten crooked.
Posture exercises are a form of physical therapy that focuses on correcting postural imbalances and restoring proper alignment to the body. Posture Therapists gather posture information and details about pain level(s) and movement abilities to choose the correct exercises, and then sequence them in a way that will provide the most benefit. The movements and static positions help restore joint mobility and function to damaged joints and improve deep muscular strength and stability from head to toe. The result is a lasting change in the body from crooked to straight, and from painful to pain-free. The postural program re-educates the muscles to move and function the way they were designed so that musculoskeletal balance and joint alignment are restored in the body.
First, we straighten, then we strengthen.
How Is It Different?
Posture therapy is different from many other exercise or pain relief therapies in these 4 distinct ways:
1. Every therapy routine addresses the body as a whole, not just the individual parts
2. Therapy programs are unique to each patient and progress uniquely from week to week
3. The movements assigned are simple and easy to perform on your own
4. The focus is always on postural and movement restoration
Postural Alignment Therapy provides effective pain relief

Meet Dorothy J Melick
"In 1996 was kicked by a horse and shortened my front tendon on my right leg. I had it drained 3x but went to 6 other specialists over the next 10 years. I ended up bum-scooting to do a tile floor and tearing my Gluteus Medius and Minimus off my spine and right hip extensively. I also have scoliosis. Every doctor said inoperable and would only have 20 percent movement and lots of pain. Tried physiotherapy, osteopathy, massage, personal training, and pain injections of a variety. The last doctor said he could operate and at preop said he couldn't because he had done 4 of this type and only one was successful. Others ended up in a wheelchair. So I got Injections from then on every six months. They helped some but ended up with a cane, scooter, and chairlift. Posture Therapy exercises have changed my life. The continuous daily exercises to support better posture enabled me to shift my bent position to supper me and I gained strength enough to not use my cane for 10 months, not use my chairlift in a year, and can walk at least 10,000 steps a day. I do head-to-toe exercises every day as she assigned as my personal routine to keep me moving. Candace personalizes the routine and modifies it to my needs. 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐀 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑! I know that I will always have some scoliosis and some pain, but I feel much better, and the pain is tolerable with the needles every six months. I just started playing pickleball for seniors and love it. The posture exercises help so much making stress less on the injured gluteal area while building strength around. Candace Grant, is a kind, empathetic person who pays attention to your personal needs. She is the only Massage and Posture Therapist I go to." |
